Digital Ad Spending Projected to Surpass TV by Greater Margin in 2017

Digital advertising in the U.S. is projected to surpass television spending in 2017 by an even greater margin than originally predicted, according to a new forecast from eMarketer. The research firm had previously forecast that the milestone shift would take place next year, but now it is expecting digital to overtake TV by a wider margin. TV ad spending in the U.S. is expected to reach $72.01 billion, or 35.8% of total ad spending, next year, according to eMarketer. Mobile to represent 75% of internet traffic next year

According to a new forecast from Zenith, next year, three-quarters of global internet traffic will come from mobile devices. While we were all likely aware of the internet increasingly becoming mobile-first, 75% is a huge proportion when you consider the number of desktops and laptops still out there. As Zenith notes, internet access from mobile devices skyrocketed in recent years, with smartphones and tablets representing just 40% of global web access in 2012. Consumers Still Value Email Marketing as Mobile Usage Soars

Consumers in the US still prefer to browse content marketing offers via email rather than on social media or other platforms, according to a new report published by digital marketing research enterprise Adobe Digital Insights (ADI). The new report found that while there is a growing proliferation of IoT devices and an emergence of smart platforms such as Snapchat, email usage is still on the rise, and, perhaps more surprisingly, is being driven by millennials who are accessing content on mobile devices.
